Won’t You Come and Confess

Invitation: Mi Confesión Show
September 9 - 25, 2010
Latitude 44 Gallery, Framing & Decor

"I left my heart in Buenos Aries."
"I always wanted to eat chocolate covered in gold leaf..."
"I have secretly wanted to publish my book."
"I am obsessed with my dancing under the moonlight Chihuahua Archie"

Once again Latitude 44 Gallery Framing Décor invites you to join us in our traditional Junction Arts Festival collaborative project. This year our Show entitled Mi Confesión is inspired by a song by Gotan Project that we were listening to while planning our show. It allies well with the festival's aspiration to be "an edge splitting combination of the high art, community arts and popular culture."

Come to our gallery and put your confession on canvas or postcard or both! As well as having the postcards here, we will be distributing them all over the Junction and outside the Junction. Pick them up, write whatever you are inclined to do and drop them off.

Most importantly come and see our wonderful show of Canadian Artists. You may just find a piece of art or a gift you absolutely must have. Come in for the festival and we will arrange something special for you.

Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival May 1 - 31, 2010
Open Exhibition: Parallel Adaptations
Brian Anderson, Gary Carr, Tammy Hoy, Steve Jacobs
[74] Junction - Latitude 44 Gallery Framing Decor

Another successful year for CONTACT.  The Junction represented the largest concentration of photographers in the city wide international photographic festival with 21 venues and 28 photographers. We all had coinciding openings and as usual we were packed here at Latitude 44 Gallery. Our show Parallel Adaptations was incredible.

Brian Anderson surreal photos examined the elemental concepts rock, lake and sky reflecting on the fragility of nature. Gary Carr’s landscapes captured the stark breathtaking beauty of nature touched by human intervention. Through their haunting urban images Tammy Hoy and Steve Jacobs captured vestiges of abandoned structures and locations. To remind us of the life that remains in these places despite the absence of the living.

The whole month had people coming specifically to see our show and learn about photography...

That is part of what we are about: Education and Exposure.

Function in The Junction Fundraising & Framing

Event organizer Linda Clements, Junction Residents Association joined by sponsors Mary Ann DiBernardo, Latitude 44 Gallery, Marcel Cornelius, Aquila Restaurant  and Janet  DiBernardo, Latitude 44 Gallery, were thrilled with the turnout - March 27, 2010

Catching up over the last few months we would like to thank everyone who help us make such an overwhelmingly successful event.

"They will no longer be displayed in dollar store frames and window caulking"

We are happy to report that to date we have framed more then 60 award winning historical photos and memorabilia for Fire Station 423’s memory wall, thanks to the FUNCTION IN THE JUNCTION, a framing fundraiser  put on by JRA and sponsored by Aquila Restaurant and Latitude 44 Gallery Framing Décor with help from Agora.

If you have not heard about this event let me explain. For their efforts in promoting the history of their station and firefighting in their neighbourhood, Junction fire fighters received a Heritage Media Award.

JRA Co-chair Linda Clements wanted to acknowledge Duncan Brown and Greg Schultz the firemen who won the awards and help them for all their service to the Junction. The fundraiser was her idea and she and her family put a huge amount of work into organizing the hugely successful event. It was wonderful to see residents and local businesses rally together in support for the fire Station...

What a wonderful neighbourhood we live in!
