Poster: Wet End Web Events: Photography, Framing, Gallery Receptions
Wednesday, October 28 @ 7 - 9 pmat Latitude44

We would like to invite you to our monthly West End Web event; this time hosted here at Latitude 44 Gallery Framing & Décor.

To-morrow we would like to talk about photography with an archival photographer Dave Katulic & photographic tips on posterity and the importance of photography on the Web.

I would talk a little bit about framing and the value of artists having gallery showings. And our host Paul Reynolds will discuss promoting gallery showings on-line.

Of course, this is a traditional group discussion, and everyone is welcome to talk about the Internet, the Web, and the importance of embracing this digital style of life.

See you here.

A touch of Quebec in the Junction

Poster: A touch of Quebec

Our mandate here at Latitude 44 gallery framing décor is to support, display and sell the work of Canadian artists. This month we are so very excited to be showing several Quebec Artists.

It is wonderful to experience the Artists interpretation of Urban City life, country life, landscape and abstract. Each of these artists, both emerging and established share with us a little bit of Quebec’s Joie de Vie.

Come in be a part if Alexadre Zerbe and Marc Nerbonne’s very different observations on the city and urban life and then compare them to Norman Boisvert’s whimsical colourful view of life in the country and Yvon Breton’s beautiful fall landscapes.

If you love abstract then you must see Celine Gendron, Hung Jou-Lee and Marcelle Dube’s powerful vibrant abstract pieces.

We look forward to seeing you here to enjoy this very special collective of Canadian artists.

Bohemian Glass is renowned for its high level of quality and artistry. Glassmaking has an uninterrupted history in Czech lands that has spanned over 1,000 years.

Bohemia's geographical setting, natural resources and skillful population virtually assured that it would become a major force in both the art and the industry of glass.

The region's chandeliers have graced the palaces of sultans and can also be seen in Canadian homes. Bohemian crystal appears on formal dining tables everywhere, some of the first large-scale radar screens were made of Bohemian glass. Bohemian glass, also called "forest Glass" in Europe traditionally was found in every household.

Today, sculptures of Czech glass appear in the modern art collections of major museums in the world.

We, at Latitude 44 Gallery, are excited to bring you this astonishing exhibition where glass artists including Jiri Suhajek, Jaroslav Svoboda and Lubomir Zubor from the Czech Republic experimented with different techniques and colours to produce these amazing collections. In this unique collection from Europe we have blown, cut, painted, molded, artistic glasses, vases, bowls and sculptures.

Please come to visit us, and you will see what amazing choices you have to bring a piece of usable art home and cherish it for years.

Where is the Hottest Red Hot Art Spot during the Junction Arts Festival this year?….Latitude 44 Gallery of course!

We will be hosting live performances during the Junction’s weaving mosaic arts festival. Here’s a tentative list: Peter Verity, Courtney Farquhar, Kim Korin, Doin Time, Heather Chappell, Maneli Jamal. Please check the scheduling and artist information for performance groups and artists who will transform the Junction streetscape into a carnival of sounds and sights at the JAF’s Artists web page.

Join us with our ongoing interactive collaborative community project for the festival. This year it is 'Playing With Paint' art/community project with artist Tia Gillespie. We'll offer 3 large canvases for each day (Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm). Invite everyone you know to come out and contribute to ART! At the end of the festival we will choose a piece of art from the Playing With Paint art project and frame it!

Don’t forget to come into the gallery to see more than 25 Canadian Artists that we represent including Jordan Hicks, Micheline Montgomery, Paul-Andre Le Blanc, Sherrill Girard, Janice Tayler and our own Junction artists David Crighton, Reid English, Andrew Judd and of course Heather Yelland. As you know the mandate of Latitude 44 Gallery Framing Décor is to showcase, support and preserve the work of Canadian artists and share art with the public.

See you here.

We would like to give an ongoing commentary about framing. Of course the visual impact is very important. You want whatever it is that you are framing to look fantastic and at the same time suit the space in which it is hung. Yet there is so much more to it then meets the eye and that is why it is so important to have your framing done by professionals.

We want to help you with your framing because we are professionals at Latitude 44 Gallery Framing Decor and we really care. The very idea of framing can be intimidating and overwhelming, so let us consult with you to find the perfect framing solution for your treasured piece of art based on your aesthetic preferences, conservation needs as well as your individual budget.

We are experts at framing all forms of paintings, works on paper, memorabilia, works on fibre, ceramics and sports items. Use your imagination! You might be surprised at what you might like to frame and then…call us at 416 769 2900… email us at latitude44gallery@bellnet.ca or best of all bring your framing projects in to us at 2900 Dundas St. West in the Historic Junction of Toronto and we will work together on framing ideas.

Playing With Paint @ The Junction Arts Festival!

Originally uploaded by vxm.

Remember last year's Community built sculpture with Reid English... well this year let's make community paintings with Tia Gillespie!!

For this year's Junction Arts Festival, Latitude 44 framing & art gallery will be' hosting a painting demonstration that is fun and interactive for everyone!

Playing With Paint shows some of the many ways to use acrylic paint. Although there are endless ways to use this medium, we'll mostly be working with washes (watered down paint), applying paint using pallet knives, brushes and even your hands, adding materials to the paint, stenciling, etc. Playing With Paint is a fun way to jump right in to painting and see what happens :)

We'll offer 3 large canvas' for each day (Saturday and Sunday) and invite everyone to come out and contribute to ART!

At the end of the festival we will choose a piece of art from the Playing With Paint art project and frame it!

See you here.
